Travelling Whistles

Hi all,

I’m going to be going to Bali for a couple months this summer (to study the traditional music there). There’s no way I’m going without a whistle or two, but I decided recently that I really don’t want to bring my Sindts with me. I was thinking the best idea would be to bring a durable, plastic whistle along, something I don’t currently have. Does anyone have any “travelling whistles”? Preferably something fairly inexpensive, but that plays nice enough.

Incidentally, I came across a website somewhere that apparently has “Celtic Music” on Thursday. That should be interesting, I think.

I travel with my trusty Sweetone or Feadog because you just can’t seem to hurt 'em. And if they disappear for any reason, I can get new ones easily.

Dixon nontunable.

I usually take my Clarkes and my Feadog…
however, if I take my Susato or Weltmeister, ect. I’ll keep a ‘hawks-eye’ on it until I’m back at home.

Abell Delrin…Whoops, you said inexpensive, sorry 'bout that

Water Weasel maybe…

Hey Trevor if you get any recordings of Balinese music I would love to get a copy. I’m taking an anthropology course right now and the prof is completely bonkers over Balinese music. =)

I’d be willing to pay shipping and CD/minidisc/tape media involved.

I have a Clare two-piece in a nice little wood case. Real compact for packing and travelling, although I don’t know what it’d do in a salt atmosphere. If you want multiple keys and minimal bulk, a Water Weasel set (3 bodies, one head, PVC) would be pretty convenient. You could carry it in a large 4-cigar case

I second the water weasels. I think
the Bb/A weasels could serve as
part of the foundation of a house.
