Tornados in Iowa.... Cynth? You OK?

Cynth, you OK?

I’m praying for you, Cynth!!

Yooo hoo! Cynth! Hope everything ok with you . . .

. . . maybe her power is out.

Oh, thank you for your concern! I was a couple counties east of where those tornadoes were. We were under a tornado watch but just got a lot of wind. It was quite a shock the next day though when I saw that nine towns had been affected. It is a strange time of the year to be thinking about tornados. I’m glad it was not very cold for the sake of the poor people who were left without shelter. It’s been quite a while since anything like this has happened I guess.

Nice to read that you’re AOK. It is indeed an odd time of the year for tornados up there. :boggle:

I think it must be a payback for the abnormally warm autumn we’ve been having. We could have had a bit of snow by now, but I haven’t even seen any frost yet!

Tornadoes can hit any time of the year, if weather conditions are favorable for them. It’s usually when the weather is neither too hot nor too cold.

Well it’s almost always too hot or too cold here so maybe that’s why we don’t get so terrible many.

I thought we had somebody from the flute forum from the state of Eye Wuh, too?

Well, it might be too hot or too cold, but at least you don’t have to watch where you step.

I’m under a tornado watch now.

That’s true. The worst you are probably ever going to step on here is a cow pattie.

Gee, Walden, I guess I haven’t had the radio or TV on so I didn’t know you had bad weather down there right now. Well, I hope nothing happens. You’d better keep your radio on. Good luck!

I would think that I am, too. The winds are blowing so hard here that pop bottles somebody threw down on the road are blowing around, all by themselves, and this morning as I walking, an acorn fell of a tree and hit me in the heart. :boggle:

The wind feels so good to stand in, though.

It is also very windy here, today, and though it’s warm enough now, it’s supposed to be a hard freeze again tomorrow night.

It’s snowing here now. It’s sticking to roofs and the roads are a little slushy. Not sure how cold it’s supposed to get tonight. Right now it’s a little above freezing. My kitties are very unhappy with this weather. I’ve told them this is what it’s going to be like for a while, but they don’t seem to believe me. They keep running to the door and I have to open it so they can see that it’s still wet and cold outside. They are very restless and I think it may be a long winter for all of us!

It’s oh, hmm, 82F here right now. All the windows are open and there is the most lovely sea breeze coming ashore in the darkness. I am seriously toying with the notion of filling the bath, turning out the lights, and having a delicious soak right in that sea breeze, listening to the waves plash gently against the seawall.

Oh, and it was real nice today, too. All golden sunshine–not that intense, tar-melting kind–and full of something blooming. I had the wrong glasses on, so I couldn’t see what it was, but it was exotic and yummy.

Sigh.

it’s 7:15pm here Tuesday, and we have tornado watches and warnings going on all around.

I do NOT like this one bit. I have my cell phone, battery powered radio, and the dog leashes ready to head to the basesment at a moments notice. And if it goes on too long tonight, we’ll all go sleep down there in Nate’s room.
