Purely as a matter of interest, has anyone out there had any experience with Tony’s wooden flutes? I know from his website that Tony produces flutes in Blackwood,Rosewood and Maple(and possibly in other woods to special order).I was wondering how they compared to Tony’s Polymer flutes in terms of sound?
BUMPeroonie(as Slim Gaillard might have said).I’m sure that I read here many moons ago that someone had tried or owned a wooden flute made by Tony.A search brought no results.Has anyone, anywhere tried one?
Kevin,
you’re right there once was a post about this, but I think it only got one or two responses which went something like:
I owned one, liked it, was allergic to it…
But I’ve seen nothing else. I really like my polymer by Tony. I can’t imagine his woods flutes not also being well made.

Cheers Jay,Nice to know I wasn’t hallucinating that post! ![]()
Well I have one ordered and should be getting it by the end of this month. When I talked to Mr. Dixon a couple of months ago he told me he played a rosewood model not because he had to but because he liked it. I went for his wooden flute for no other reason than the fact that I am an old wooden boat kinda guy and that I like this guy. Not very scientific I know but thats the way I am. I will sure let you know what I think when I get it.

Tom,
What’s a wooden Tony D. going for?
I look forward to reading your review Tom,please keep us posted.
Tom,
that’s cool you have one of his wooden ones on order. This site could use a review of one of them.
Did you go for rosewood based upon his recommendation or some other wood type?
Eric (who now practices non-stop)
Sorry I dissapeared on you guys. Way to nice of a day. Had to take the horse for a ride. The price is going to be around 350 dallers with shipping and whatnot. I went with rosewood Eric because he had a couple already started, in fact they were just hanging around destressing as he put it. Plus he prefered the rosewood himself. Im affraid I wasnt to picky about my choice. We exchanged quite a few emails before we even got around to his wooden flute. Seems he also is an old boat guy and we talked more about that then flutes. I almost had to twist his are to get him to sell me one(not realy but it certainly took a while to get around to it). Talk about low keyed. Anyway I just got realy good vibes from him and my Alan Mount flute is just dandy as far as plastic flutes go. I am way too new to the flute to give any kind of credable review unless of cours it turns out to be a magic flute and then I will talk your ears off.![]()
