Tom Ovenden's boxwood Rudall?

Anyone know where Tom Ovenden’s boxwood Rudall & Rose flute is these days, or what the serial number is?. Found this reference at: http://www.australianflutesociety.org.au/new/pdfs/Fluteregister.pdf

  1. 8-keyed flute, box wood, ivory rings, circa 1820-1840, Rudall & Rose, London.
Middle joint is missing. Contact Tom Ovenden, Bentleigh, VIC, Ph (03) 557-3541.

with his phone # there, you should be able to reach him.
Nice fellow, too.

David I’ve tried, but I just get his answering machine. He’s somewhere in the queue of Rudall nerds camping outside Leonard Joel’s Auction House in Melbourne. Regarding Rudall flutes in Van Dieman’s Land is there no interest over here in the 13 key Rudall & Rose no. 1713/8, they can’t tell if it is a number 3 or number 8, that is up for grabs on Thursday?. I shall not bid as I’d never use a third of those keys, and none of those bottom keys. I came across this flute last Thursday. The flute case has faults was all the condition report stated.

I love my R&R with the Bb foot! This one in Oz has a couple more keys (apparently the auctioneers can’t count/add up!) and is missing it’s crown, but looks super. Crazy low estimate! But getting things from Oz is a bit fraught.

The 13 key Rudall & Rose no. 1713 or 1718 went for 1400 Australian dollars plus 22% buyer’s premium, say 300 AUD, so 1700 AUD = £900 or $1412 or €1140. Very cheap for such an unusual Rudall & Rose flute. I wonder if Mr McGee or Mr. Grinter were bidding? Congratulations to the new owner whoever she/he is.

steamy, i see no serial number reference.
did you get a condition report with the # on it? only one photo on line

Yes David, a short condition report with serial number and information concerning the box :boggle:
“Dear Thomas, The number from what I can make out is 1713 or 1718 the last number I can’t make out with certainty. Please also note the case has faults. Regards Sasa Mitic”
