which is a bit of a cop out but lets me play the rest of the tune.
I’ve a more triplety version of the third part but don’t take that outside the kitchen as yet
So… your thoughts would be gratefully received
Boyd
ps I cheat in the 4th part and drop to f in the octave instead of back d in places…makes it a heckuva lot easier on the squeallers
There are at least 2 reels called “The Jolly Tinker”, boyd, the one with the abcs posted is, I think,a Donegal version of the more common - [ I would say ] - 5-part reel. Sorry, I can’t think of any uilleann pipers who have recorded the 5-part “Tinker”. If any come to mind, I’ll let you know.
Actually, I did once hear Alan McLeod, formerly of the “Tannahill Weavers” play it once on the Highland pipes, and now I come to think of it, I 've a feeling Gordon Duncan might have recorded it.
Cheers, Kenny. [and welcome to the uilleann pipes forum]
You are right, it’s the Donegal version that I play…it sits nicely on the uilleann pipes…but my 3rd part is not quite the way I’ve heard others play it.
I’ll maybe have to ask Sean Potts or Robbie H. about what they do with it…
…although what they do may not necessarily be what I could do
