Tin Whistle Key & Mode Chart

So, I’ve been reading a bit on music theory, and I made up this chart to help me get my head wrapped around the concept of modes. Thought I’d share, as I couldn’t find a similar chart anywhere else on the internet, or at least not one that listed all 7 modes for each of the 3 most easily-played key signatures on a whistle. Hope somebody might find this useful.

Excellent chart. It is very nice and organized. I wonder though, are there in tunes in Locrian :smiling_imp:

makes it rather odd it does…

Tin Whistle Modes?
Tin Whistle? :really:

I’ve seen 'em done 7 sharps on the top line to 7 flats on the bottom (w/C in the middle) Modes across the top

but just one of 'em :poke: not three

Thanks for posting this.

This is very nice. I’ve saved a copy in my “music theory, etc.” folder.

Best wishes,
Jerry

Theory? What’s with this theory stuff? I though we were just supposed to just play by ear?

Don’t confuse me with all this theory stuff. Next we’ll be learning history. Noooooooo.

About this Locrian stuff. Wasn’t the most famous Locrian named Ajax? Weren’t they the first Hellenists? Please don’t make me remember stuff. And please don’t make me have to learn new stuff. Can’t I just play music?

Whew. Glad I got this out of my system.

Thanks,
ecohawk

P.S. The chart is very pretty. Even if I don’t understand it.

It’s very helpful if you’re playing with other people to know where your two majors, minors, and the one mixolydian is on your instrument.

Actually it only matters if you are going to be talking about it. Otherwise you just play. Lots of players wouldn’t know a mode if they tripped over it but they know how to play the tunes.

Nice chart by the way, plaidpotato.
