Thornton low whistle reviews anyone?

Anyone have a chance to play one of Tommy’s new low whistles yet?

I’ve been playing one for little bit now. Being very new to the low whistle, I wanted to try it out for a while before I said anything about it. I’m planning on doing a review by this weekend, though. For a few quick words I can say…

*it sounds really good, like a whistle with a deep voice. Not flutey at all.
*it’s sounds clean (almost pure), but with just a touch of breathiness
*low notes and high notes are all easy to hit and hold.
*the back pressure is pretty low
*air requirement is low. I was surprised how easy it is to play.
*the diameter is smaller than the other 2 low whistles I’ve played (same as my Chieftain G), so it’s easy on my hands.
*the brushed finish makes it easier to grip

The E hole is quite large and I’ve actually covered a small bit of the top of the hole while I adjust to a pipers grip. The tuning still seems fine.

Overall, I really like the whistle. From a beginners standpoint, it has a nice full sound, but it’s still it’s easy to play.

I will have some pictures and more information this weekend, and hopefully i will figure out how to upload some tunes.

speaking of Thornton whistles, there’s low D on eBay right now.
