There's something worse than WAITING?!

Yes, that’s the question.

You’re able to save some money to buy a whistle. Then, you place the order. Finally, you have to WAIT, sometimes A LONG TIME (months). Isn’t that waiting terrible?

I’m waiting in the mail a low D and a high E Susatos since 20 days ago, and just CAN’T WAIT anymore. I was pretty sure that they would arrive today, but they didn’t do it.

Everyone tell me: “You have another whistles to play in the meantime!”, YES, but IT’S NOT THE SAME. LOL.

Please, tell me something, I’m exasperated!

Am I driving mad?!

Yes, whats worse then waiting is the rare occasion that the whistle gets lost or damaged while in transit. Never seem them get lost, but damaged once or twice. Makes you cringe…

If after a long wait that happens, it’d be simply ATROCIOUS, :swear:

Walk it off.

Are you able to check the delivery status? I just spent some time waiting and watching on-line for a keyboard to get shipped to our house. Right when it finally made it to our town, they shipped it out of state (by mistake I’m sure) and then we had more tracking to go.

The waiting list for my keyed Hamilton flute was about 2 years, as best as I recall.

Whistles arrive quickly.

Never seem them get lost, but damaged once or twice.

Oh yes, some of the whistles I ship to people get damaged in the mail-handling process, which is why I started welding the fipples when assembling them instead of using superglue.

Waiting can be difficult, but I find it helps me to ask myself what exactly I’m waiting for. Is it the thing itself? Or an expectation I’ve imbued it with? And then I try and see if I can find whatever it is I’m hoping for in the things I already have.

Believe it or not, this does work quite well. Not only do I build gratitude for the things I already have, but when the new thing comes, I’m in a better space to receive it. The expectation is no longer excessively high.

I saved my money, and ordered a Copeland low D. The UPS truck turned over on the way, :boggle: and when it arrived. It looked like a brass banana. Played real nice though. The insurance did cover it.

I can’t check the delivery status, THAT’S THE WORST THING. I don’t know where is it. So, I don’t know if it’s going to arrive on monday, tuesday, wednesday or in 15 more days.
I ordered from Susato in the past and it took 14 days. I think that’s normal.

I couldn’t wait 2 years for nothing. That’s too much!

I’m also waiting for an Everywhistle. I think I could wait for it for weeks/months with no problem.
But I have a few other high D whistles at home.
This will be my first low D so I think that’d be the reason because I’m so eager for it!

That’s weird!

I just ordered from Susato once, and I had a great experience. They pack their whistles incredible good. So, hopefully, I think there won’t be any problem with them!

the first 729 days go by rather quickly.

Customs can be a big part of the time it takes something to arrive. To send a couple whistles to Italy by private courier cost more than the whistle, so we went with the post. Which did eventually work, but it took a full four months - yes, I said FOUR MONTHS to get to him. Same mail to South Africa and Russia each took 10 days. Guido said he’d heard there was a backlog in customs. I guess so! :boggle:

Yes, that’s true.

Fortunately, I could see that Argentinian Post / Customs is very good. I’ve sent packages worldwide and they used to leave the country in just 1 or 2 days.
I’ve received many packages from Europe and USA within 6-10 days as well.
Sometimes there was a delay and took 15-25, yes, but a few times.

Fortunately, I’ve never had to wait months for a package. knock on wood

Arrrgghh! I feel your pain. I ordered 6 Freeman whistles Dec 17th for Christmas. Christmas came and went, New Year came and went, now by birthday is coming up and I will have them by then - hopefully - early Feb. We thought they were lost in the mail but turns out paypal send to address defaulted to my old address when I paid. I actually looked up the people who live there now, got their phone number and called to ask if they had received my whistles! I had visions of someone keeping them for their snot nose kids to play with. We live in another state now. Anyway, to make a long story longer, the mail lady remembered we use to live there and had moved on and forwarded my whistles to our PO Box, also in another state from my current location! My father lives there though and has picked them up so he can bring to me when he next visits which is in Feb. It’s killing me, slowly. He is just driving around with them in his car. I told him to leave them in there so he won’t forget them. Of course while he is visiting you know I can’t play them too much either! Oh, patience.

I have a few whistles on order that have a year leadtime on them. Worth waiting for to me at least and have a few dozen other whistles to satisfy me during the wait. After a while, you forgot about the whistles on order and think of it as a pleasant surprise when they’re ready.

It took 6 days for my Burke Viper to arrive.

When customs don’t delay packages, Denmark is a great place to be when buying things on the internet. (about 1 week from USA/Canada, and most of Europe… about 1-2 weeks from Asia & Australia)

waiting sucks, but how about a 4 year waiting list, or 13 year :boggle: :boggle: those UP wait lists are the worst.

4 years? 13 years? For WHAT?!

I wouldn’t wait that long for nothing in this world, LOL.
