The Triplets of Belleville

Our last movie of the vacation; my daughter is trying to figure out what to write as a review. A really strange animated flick - incongruity on top of incongruity, from Betty Boop style cartoon to film noire style, riddled somehow with social commentary (I think). Bizarre falls way short. Entertaining and relatively short. Not for everyone. Anybody else out there see it?

PhilO

Hey Hoser, did you see it at BAM on New Year’s Eve? If so, we just missed you! It is one of the more engaging movies I have seen in some time. I will send you some comments in a PM so as not to ‘queer the deal’ for those who have not seen it. I was rivetted to the screen (or whatever…). Actually, I wasn’t rivetted to the screen. That would have been impolite vis a vis the other viewers, and I know how touchy some folks can get at the SLIGHTEST distraction. I am always amazed–given the stats on how many people are ‘packing heat’ nowadays–at the icy stares und uttered imprecations the little woman doles out when the real movie threatens to start–you know, right after the 17th preview.

Hope all is well with you and yours. I believe we are destined to meet on the fields of Aughrim some time in February.

Be well,

Tom D.
