The Passing of Liz Crehan Anderson

I learned yesterday evening with sadness of the passing of Liz Crehan Anderson (Moorestown, NJ) on the 20th of February, about noon, after complications arising from a serious illness, which she bore with grace and fortitude. She was 54 years of age.

Liz, of the well known Crehan family of Co. Clare, was an inspirational woman to know - She worked tirelessly for decades to arrange tuition in Irish music in the area of Moorestown / Philadelphia for the many who were interested to learn. When the classes she had organised got turfed out of a local hall, she moved them to her own home, rather than see them discontinue. She even arranged for some of her students to travel to Ireland to participate with her and her family at the Willie Clancy Summer School. She was a great friend to me since I moved to the United States. The people of Moorestown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and South Jersey will miss her, as will I. My sincerest condolences to her husband Jim, her children and her extended family.

My condolences.

Joseph (the UK one).

A true loss to the Irish music scene, but over her life one of the greatest gifts.

Thanks for passing along this information.

Liz was a fixture at the 3 Beans Coffee House session in Haddonfield, New Jersey when I lived up there and attended those sessions. I have fond memories of her and the rest of the 3 Beans crowd. She was trained as an architect, as was I, and so we hit it off from the start. The last time I heard from her, she was getting a practice set of pipes from Seth.

I will truly miss her.

Does anyone have an address for her family?

Thank you for all of your kind thoughts during this difficult time.
