Well, after just over a year of waiting I received the OZ Whistle I ordered from Mitch and it was well worth waiting for. Someone said in another thread that he/she didn’t agree with Tony Hinningan’s review but I have to say that I agree with him. The OZ whistle have everything that I want or need in a whistle.
If I am to compare it with the other high-end wooden whistle I have which is a Busman, the OZ whistle is less chiffy and needs a bit more push than the Busman. The Busman is a bit more forgiving and a lot more quiet. Crossfingering works well and is spot on. The OZ whistle is quite loud, certainly loud enough for a session and just like Tony Hinnigan said in his review; -It’s all there! It is spot on in all three octaves and extremely responsive. I think the fact that the OZ whistle is responsive is what also makes it less forgiving than the Busman, you will hear any mistake you make with your fingers… This whistle is definitely better than I am.
Total verdict? Five thumbs up!
