THE GREAT UILLEANN YOU-TUBE THREAD.

Nice list, Pat. Thanks for that.

how do you save videos from you tube to my computer

Youtube downloader http://video.qooqle.jp/dl/

Hey, find one like that with a closeup of Liam O’Flynn’s hands. I could watch a lot of that. The dream is finally coming true–watching and listening at the same time to our favorite artists. It’s very instructional. Love that little shiver move of Seamus’ - the upper F#.

A bunch of us (from C&F) should be putting up clips on YouTube…esp those who are half decent players.

You always learn a lot from watching other players, warts’n’all.

There’s a video of a performance with Paddy Keenan at Southbank in 2002. You’ll find it in the “Cinema” section of Kerrywhistles (you must register to his e-mailing list, but it’s all non-commercial).

This one is simply entitled “Vignoles Full Set in D”.

Seems to be set in a pipemakers workshop??

Boyd

There’s always this feller too

Full set in D also…the makers are errrm not too bad at all

(Hey lads, any chance I can get a set from you?)

Boyd

Whereas, this is a slightly dodgy instrument IMHO

Paddy M and the Chieftains go Bluegrass…I love this one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QonA-4NwQ4

Not exactly to my tastes, but I have to admit it is fun nonetheless. And, Paddy plays the regs (if only briefly) for all of you doubters out there.

That’s just a half set. Wait till you hear him bend over and do the regs! :astonished:

djm

I see it but I don’t believe it (or hear it for that matter - does he have reeds in those regulators? :boggle: )

PLEASE… How am I expected to eat my breakfast now

Uilleann piping accompanying another thing I love…great scenery…the Isle of Skye in this case.

I’ve climbed the ridge that is shown in the final 20 seconds of the clip.

Boyd

I just love music from Skye:

I just came down from the Isle of Skye.
I’m no very big but I’m awful shy.
All the lassies shout as I walk by,
“Donald, Where’s Your Troosers?”

Let the wind blow high. Let the wind blow low.
Through the streets in my kilt I go.
All the lassies cry, “Hello!
Donald, where’s your troosers?”

for completeness: Jarlath Henderson from 2 or 3 years ago

Jarlath was great. We need more entries like him on youtube

Mmm…That was just delicious.
