Hey all - Happy day! I was just wondering if someone has a good suggestion of a tune to play along with ‘the butterfly’ at my local session? I’ve been playing this tune lately and really like it. It definitely has a unique feel to it, and I’m looking for something that would go well with it.
I like Dever The Dancer (I think that’s its name) and Fig for a Kiss. Two good slip jigs.

Kid on the Mountain is another good one.

Someone’s already suggested Kid on the Mountain, but if you want to hear them together listen to the Bothy Band’s Old Hag You Have Killed Me. They do a set of those two.
We do Ned 'o the Hill, Butterfly, Rights of Man, Kid On The Mountain. We tend to kick the tempo up when we hit Kid, but only because I like it fast and angry on flute. This is a gig set, not a session thing… and we’re not all that ‘trad’ a band.
We play it with Teetotalers, sometimes.

I like sandwiching it between Drowsy Maggy and Morrisons…I call it the key signature set.
Just found it paired with Fermoy Lasses… nicey nice!
Play it with “The Snowy Path”, another slip jig with a similar motif.
I like the idea, Michael. I play Drowsy Maggy and Morrison’s Jig and plan to learn Butterfly as I know it as a beautiful piece played by a dutch folk-classical group called Flairck
