Well, I have spoken with Ray Sloan, and he has me down in his books for a nice practice set. The wait begins, my friends, and I’m very excited and happy.
Congrats…The wait is well worth it…but those last few weeks are the tough part. ![]()
Regards,
Gary
Good on you Merlin!
Good! Congrats! ![]()
Good to hear that. I piddled around for a long time, hoping I was going to find a set for sale and get it quick, before I finally ordered my practice set. The wait is tough, but worth it.
I just ordered a Half set about a month and a half ago. So I have those butterflies again. But at least I have a set to practice on while I wait this time.
Good decision. You won’t regret it.
In 3 more days my practice finally becomes a half-set. Nick Whitmer made a set of drones for me. I’m counting the minutes.
As soon as the drones arrive, I’m sending my chanter to be keyed. To be sure that I don’t suffer Uilleann cold turkey (very dangerous condition) Nick is very kindly lending me a chanter while he adds the keys to mine. Woohoo!!
Perhaps, in the nerve-wracking interim my good man, you can purchase that lovely bottle chanter thingy on EBAY…
I believe the latest days of the waiting time are the worst moments.
Next week Mr. Gallagher will send me my UP and…I can’t wait more time!!! ![]()
Soon, the international shipping odyssey begins!
I’m waiting for my Gallagher set as well. And it seems to take eons especially considering how nice the set will be. But why don’t we be waiting partners?

Congrats for the order.
I’m waiting for my set to arrive. It left the makers workshop today. All the way to Japan! I’m getting really crazy ![]()
pj, while you are getting the keywork done, are you going to have a chanter bypass key put on too? or are you not a believer?
Piperdoc,
Yes, I’m a believer, but currently a poor believer. With the new drones and keys, not to mention a new bellows courtesy of texasbagpiper and a new chanter courtesy of CJ Dixon, I’m going to be removing the chanter and blocking the bag with my finger for the next few months at least. But I’ll be happy doing it, and that’s what counts.
