Tenor drone reed cutting out

Hey all,

the seasons changing are a wonderful thing. Why, the maples are red and just the other day by bari drone shot out of my mainstock. The telltale sign that winter is near.

So the other day I’m dreaming of warmer climes and playing Off to California to assist in these dreams, but everytime I hit that high g, my tenor drone cuts out dashing my dreams and mucking up the tune. So, what’s the fix for a tempermental piece of cane? Flick the tongue (its, not mine), or open it up a bit? Wax, voodoo?

gently snapping the tongue back and forth usually works,if not slide a single strand of your hair underneath the reed tongue hard against the binding, failing that, make a new one.
good luck,allan.
