Has anyone heard these guys yet?

They will be here at the ST Paul Celtic Connection in Feb.
Do they have a good show?
Definitely worth going to. Band member John Blake (guitar & flute) also has a good CD out with Lamond Gillespie & Mick Leahy (“Traditional Irish Music From London”).

Teada kicks ass! I was so bummed that I missed them the last time they were in town here. They remind me of old DeDanaan, like from the Jigs & Reels album. I love that low banjo sound with the other instruments.
I have one of their recordings which really does not do them justice live.
Go see them, you will love it!

I haven’t seen the full band, but I did see a gig by Oisin MacDiarmada and John Blake a couple of years ago and they were fantastic. Teada’s album is pretty decent–MacDiarmada’s singing is perhaps a bit of an acquired taste (he sounds like he’s got a bad cold or something) but there’s some very good tunes on it. Go and see 'em if you can.
I got to see them last november during the Copenhagen Irish Festival and remember I was not blown away. They are without doubt very skillful musicians and Oisin plays a mean fiddle.
There is something about the ‘stage prescence’ of young bands which is a bit ‘hyped’ (for lack of other words). Perhaps it is nerves/excitement. Same thing happened when seeing Grada perform the first few times.
Teada were also having their concert filmed for a video release. I only found out later and could explain some of their attitude, though some of their comments were downright condescending/partonising. It was their first time in Denmark and they were talking to the audience as if they were a bunch of toddlers. 99% of the audience understands English perfectly well.
The same evening also included a gig of fiddler Gerry O’Connor with the band Cuíg. Now THAT made an impression on me. Gerry is one master fiddler. He also played for hours in the session afterwards. Great stuff.
Anyways, just my take on one evening of music. I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
cheers,
Jeroen
