My friend Grainne Hambly (concertina/harp) was on tour with them, but I don’t see her in the picture, was she there?

Grainne doesn’t play with teada when she tours with them - she opens the shows.

I volunteered with the production company that brought Téada to my town this past February. I expected them to just be a bunch of young bucks playing Rock-n-Reel but I was pleasantly surprised at how much care they put into their tunes. Oisin and the rest clearly have a serious passion for the tradition.

I would definitely see them again.

They will be at the SOUTHERN ILL. IRISH FESTIVAL in April 2006.

That’s a very true observation.
I had toured with lots of different musicians over the years and plenty of them were the type to do the gig as fast as possible, get paid and hit the closest bar without saying hi or goodbye to anyone.
The lads in Teada do actually realise and appreciate the work that the locals do to put on the concert in the first place, plus they always take the time to say hello to the people who actualy bothered to leave their house and pay in to see them.

They restored my belief in the ‘professional musician’ I had the most enjoyable tour in the longest time. Of course, Grainne Hambly and Cathie Ryan were a pleasure to travel with too.

Sounds great. For almost all of the touring groups back ca 1980, they would be looking for a place to hang out post-concert for a drink, meeting folks, and a tune. DeDannan in particular wanted to play after a concert.
