The HMS Astute just ran aground on the Isle of Skye, the home of Talisker Whisky, the day after Trafalgar Day.
I had a good friend who was a submarine commander, he never ran his boat aground in Scotland. He didn’t drink Talisker either.
A fantastically ironic name for the boat too. ![]()
Talisker was the name of Mrs. Adam’s famous Skye Terrier kennel in Canada.
They really do make the best animated floor mops.
This story is a tortured Whisky Galore metaphor waiting to happen.
Is there an implication that this would make a great “sub-plot” for Whisky Galore!?
aye indeed, i spotted it as i drove over the bridge on Friday … thought I’d been on the talisker …
So what would a Skye Islander use a Cruise Missile for? It was Cruise Missiles that the “Astute” was carrying.
It’s the Sorbothane tiles which is where the money is, shoe inserts, arch support is big business, or accoustical tile for the kids rooms.
I never named one “mop” but one of my favorites-he was such a goofy boy- was named “Broom”
Did you say 'FIFTY thousand cases of whisky?"
