My whistlin’ journey will soon have me playing a great old Scottish favourite called “Brochan Lom” I’ve been honing the necessary
finger mechanics and breath control for the tune for a while and within the past weeks I got the first couple of bars to sound
nearly right.

So recently I was pleasantly surprised to find “Brochan Lom” featured in a classic B&W movie from the
late 40’s called Whisky Galore!

Further trawling of the 'net and I found this advert that I remember seeing it on Telly (TV) quite a few years ago
but made no connection between it and the “Whisky Galore!” movie. Watching the movie helped the penny drop.

An enjoyable, nostalgic first clip (I remember seeing the film on TV as a boy). It’s also a vivid illustration that lip-synch has improved over the years, though I have noticed that levels of coordination are inversely proportional to both quantity and potency of the beverage consumed (this through observation rather than personal experience, I will claim, but close friends may give the game away!).

If my memory serves me correctly, this movie was released in the U.K. under the title A tight little island. Rather droll play on words when you consider the story line. Said to be loosely based on a true event. . .

Released in the UK as “Whisky Galore!” and in the US as “Tight Little Island” (no “A”) I believe. And yes, it was based on a true story. And a novel.
