Sweetwood Mack

Through some trading, I just got some wooden whistles and tabor pipes from Mack Hoover. Check these out.

Bb whistle in peach.

Low G tabor pipe in maple.

D tabor pipe in peach.

Brass and black plastic mouthpiece on a maple tabor pipe in C. It also has a matching black CPVC whistle body, not shown.

Let me tell you, these things play great.

Simply beautiful. Every one.

Of course, we should all know that they sound great. Mack would never let them out of the shop if they didn’t.

Mr. Hoover does gorgeous work. I love his abundant use of wood and his nice smooth lines in his whistles.

Gorgeous, Walden! Mack sure does wonderful work.

Luvly Mack, simply luvly!

Lucky, you, Walden!
They are beautiful. I especially love the wood grain in the Bb peach whistle.

Since seeing the title to this thread last night, for some reason, I can’t stop thinkin’ about tomorrow. Oh well, it’ll soon be here…

Those tabor pipes are really attractive!

mmmmmm, peachwood.

The low G, especially, has the Hoover signature sound, with its soft subtlety. http://www.mackhooverwhistles.com The D and the C are easy-players and sound great. And the Bb… it sounds as good as it looks. They all look better in real life than in the photos.

Nobody does low G’s like Mack. I’ve played high and low D whistles I liked better than his. But his low G’s are unbeatable.

Tom

Ooooooh… and let me add … AAaahhhhhhhh!

Loverly!

Don’t … Stop!

OK. I’ll come clean. I’ve got a lot of great whistles. Especially for someone that doesn’t play as often or as well as I would like.

And of all these great whistles, both high and low end, Mack’s whistles have a special sound all their own. I don’t think I can stop until I get a Hoover in each of the common keys. Right now I have an Eb, D, C, Bb, A and an F. And now you tell me that his low Gs are the best of all? I don’t know if I should be happy with anticipation or sad that I have been missing out.

I help out when I can, Swiz.
