I have two Swayne whistles, D and C, that are going to be shipped Monday. I’m waiting with bated breath, partly because I’ve heard very little about them. The only things I’ve heard are about the legendary and elusive low-D. Does anyone have any experience with his other whistles?
Hi, Chas. Swayne whistles are pure in tone and have substantial volume. I have three of them (d, c, and A) in boxwood. They smell great but look (God forbid) a bit recordery. The blade seems very thin, and I don’t think they’d make great travel whistles, for their fragility. Still, they are very well-made and have a nice strong tone, not as loud as a Susato or Seery, but louder than a Sindt, for sure. Enjoy.
