Irish Music Traditions
Summer Workshop 2004

Irish Music Traditions (IMT) is holding its third annual summer workshop. Here’s your chance to learn to play Irish music, speak the Irish language, or dance an Irish dance!

The summer workshop will be held on Saturday July 24, and Sunday July 25, 2004, at a location to be determined. Classes will be offered in a variety of instruments, singing, language, and dance. In addition, the workshop will feature a mini-concert by the instructors and a recital by the participants. Each class will be taught by an experienced local instructor and will include a total of 6 hours of instruction. All content will be strictly traditional. Classes will be supervised by a TTCT-certified instructor and will be limited to 10 students each.

All proceeds will go to Irish Music Traditions, and will be used to support Irish arts in Atlanta. Irish Music Traditions is the Atlanta branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoírí Éireann (CCÉ), the world’s largest organization devoted to traditional Irish arts with over 400 branches in fifty countries. For more information on CCÉ, see our web site at www.ccenorthamerica.org.

The list is still being finalized depending on volume of interest, but the instructors will be local members of the Atlanta CCE branch.

I believe Pellam is being asked to teach pipes.

Depending on the volume of response, additional instructors might be necessary.

Man, I wish I could make it up there. It would be nice to chat with you again in addition to hearing your Sloan set. Also, it would be nice to see a bunch of Florida folk make the journey up there seeing as though a bunch of Georgia folk were kind enough to attend the Florida Tionol. But unfortunately, school will have me pinned down here in Central Florida until mid August. I can’t wait until school is finished, bar exam passed, and I am sticking tubes and sharp things into animals for money…then I can afford many more road trips.
