Well, I’m a newb so my opinion doesnt matter, but I think it sounds great. Maybe a little breathy at the top end for my tastes but my tastes generally include “I hate breathy” so ![]()
Good job, looks nice and clean and sounds pretty good (especially for a first whistle I’d imagine! My first whistle will probably not even work!)
Thanks! My first whistle was actually a low D, but anyway…
Fine looking whistle, and fine playing, as well! Very well done!
Thanks!
Wish I was so good at such a young age!
I take that as a compliment, so… Thanks! ![]()
It was meant as one.
I didn’t start until this year at age 28 and would’ve loved to come across whistles when I was your age.
Very well done!
Super sounding whistle and nicely played. ![]()
Great, well done!
Congrats!
In my home-making, I’ve never reached the “fipple stage”. That’s why I’ve always ended up with DIY flutes and fifes.

Thanks! That’s happenned to me several times. I’ve ended up with flutes or quenas instead of whistles.
I finally decided to bite the bullet and carve a fipple block. It was worth it.

Very cool! Thanks for sharing the pics and the video.
The whistle looks and sounds quite good. How long have you been making your own flutes/whistles? What are you using for your tube material?

Thanks! I started making whistles last week (I had experimented a little bit before that, but last week is when I really got started.) I used CPVC pipe for the body, a brass piece for the mouthpeice, and a wooden fipple block.

Nice work and it’s great that you’re starting so young!

Thanks!
I thought that was pretty impressive. Both your whistle and your playing.

Jordan,
Congratulations, your whistle and your playing are great! Do you mind if I ask how old you are and when did you start playing the Irish whistle?
Steamwalker,
You’re not that old. I started playing the whistle in January, and the Irish flute in April, and I’m a 58 year old grandmother. It’s so much fun. You know what they say, “Better late than never”. ![]()

Thanks! I’m 13 and I started playing about a year and a half ago.
