St Patrick'sday photos

I went out trying a new camera today, here are a few impressions of the musical contributions to the local parade. The theme of the parade this year was ‘Fairytales’ and my young fellow was in with the local musicianers. . Our gang won first prize for best float

Thanks for sharing, Peter. It does the heart good to see young people playing the music and having fun with it.

Ditto. Thanks.

Peter, these are very good photos, but I must say I really like your black-and-white work.

As always, a pleasure…

The B&W won’t go away. I got me a digital for the colour jobs and for the snapshots but from shooting the past few weeks I don’t think it will take over quite yet.

As always, Beauty beond comprehension…

And that red haired girl playing a Generation..

What can ye say…

From tiny oaks grow…

Those pictures are wonderful! One day I hope to do something like that =P

Thanks!

Cheers,

Get these kids some expensive whistles and green duds, add a Leprechaun or a few, and it could pass for America!

That’s all. It’s that simple…

I really shouldn’t be laughing but that is so funny…

All the way Bro..all the way..

Slan,
D.

Thanks for the pictures Peter. It is great to see how the celebration is done in Clare. We used to have parade in Rhode Island when I lived there. The difference is none of the adults would have been able to walk back. I love to see the young ones learning the music of their heritage. Wish I could have been there.

BTW the worst thing about digital cameras is the number of pictures you can take in a short period of time.

Thanks
Ron

Wonderful pictures, Peter. Thank you for sharing them

Nice photos , Peter !! Thanks for sharing a bit of the day with us !

Have a Great Day and Fun Whistling !!

Great pix, Peter! Thanks!

They’re all so cute! But so very, very pale!

Great photos!

Now a question-
How cold was it there? The reason I asked is that it looks like St Pat would have cold feet if he was here in the mountains this time of year.

Thanks for sharing the great photos, Peter. It’s especially delightful to see the children playing music.

I’m jealous of good photographers. I always manage to get a finger, camera strap or random pensioner into the shot.

Nice pictures Peter. Thanks.

What sort of flutes are the girls playing, three piece Dixons? They appear extremely thin walled from the photo.

Definitely no Dixons, I would think it’s either Donogh Mahony or Eamonn Cotter. I see what you mean though. The image posted is a small one, I am surprised at the resolution of the original (2 MB) image, if you zoom into it you can see clearly it’s a thick walled flute, you can even spot (though notread) what appears to be a maker’s stamp on the flute.
