To continue bringing the best Traditional Irish Music Instruction to the South Eastern United States, The South East Uilleann Piper’s Club is excited to announce that registration for the 11th annual South East Tionol is OPEN! The Tionol will take place February 22-24, 2013 in the Orlando, Florida area. Session Friday night, Classes Saturday, Saturday Evening Concert followed by Sessions, Sunday morning classes, and Sunday afternoon farewell Session!

Our instructors for the weekend include:

Benedict Koehler (also teaching a reed making class on Friday)

For registration, please go to the South East Piper’s Club website (http://www.southeastpipersclub.org/seupc). Select Tionol and let 'er rip. You can use Paypal OR mail a check to Gary White:

$125 / person for the workshop weekend. The cost of the weekend includes Saturday and Sunday workshop classes (held at the Geneva School in Winter Park), and admission to the Saturday evening concert featuring our fabulous, talented Instructors (Downtown Orlando).

$50 additional to register for the Friday reed making class with Benedict Koehler (space limited, so sign up EARLY).

$20 additional for short sleeve T-Shirt with this year’s logo (ordering early guarantees your size).

$15 for extra the Saturday Evening Concert tickets - space is limited here as well!

ALL DONATIONS WELCOME!!!

Please reserve some extra $ for parking on Saturday evening. Since the concert will be held downtown, street parking is limited (free after 6PM), but there is a parking garage very close to the Concert Venue and Saturday Evening Session location which costs about $10 for the evening.

All Sessions will be at the Mulvany’s Pubs this year: Friday night at the Claddagh Cottage, and Saturday/Sunday at the Harp and Celt.

Check the website details of two suggested accommodations (one less expensive (Best Western Mt. Vernon), and one a bit more but close to Saturday night’s festivities (Embassy Suites - Downtown Orlando)).

Hey all - a few updates about the SE Tionol here in Orlando Feb 22-24.

  1. We’ve added Eamonn Dillon to the teaching staff! Eamonn lives here in Florida, originally from W. Belfast. Great amount of patience for those learning, and an amazing piper altogether. (this also means the teacher student ratio for the Tionol is going to be really great)

  2. The Friday-only reedmaking class with Benedict Koehler is closed, but he will be teaching piping all throughout the weekend.

  3. The weather is going to be FABULOUS!

Did the reed making class fill? Benedicts classes are a real treat and insight into the dark art.

Haha. Yes, Ted the reed class is completely full. Actually, 3 days after registration, the class was filled to the brim. But I know Benedict will be available throughout the weekend for consult. That’s what Tionols are all about anyway, filling you up and making sure things are going right so you can keep making progress!

And luckily, the Medir cane came in this past week, so we’ll have some extra pieces in case folks need working material…

Have you had a good response? This year seems to have less signing up here than previous years.
