some whistles for sale

Well, its time for me to sell some of my family of whistles in order to acquire one that I have my heart set on. I have the following whistles for sale only here on C&F, and I think you will agree that the prices are OK. If interested, just email me at:
jean@simoneau.com I will have to charge $8 for shipping, to buy the tube and the postage.

Serpent Low D (new) with serpent engraving, length of barrel $60

Sweetheart rosewood soprano D regular mode $60

Susato soprano D ivory kildare model two piece & celtic engraving $30

Serpent Village Smithy (use as whistle or weapon) Sopr D $30

Susato Low A tuneable with thumbrest, black $40

Syn soprano D $20

I guess the $8 for shipping might be a bit high based on a message I received, so will bring that down to $5 and eat the difference. thanks JS

If this helps, i just shipped a tubefull of whistles (Oak, Clare, 2 Sweetones) through first class mail (USA-AI) and it cost $2.50. I think the tube costs another $2 or so.

Under 1 pound shipped within the US is $3.85 for 2-3 Day Priority mail.

If you want first class mail (one to two days longer) the cost is weighed by ounces, for a low whistle it would probaby be under $5 though, around $2-$3 for cheapies and most high enders.

I had a Susato A shipped to me and it costed under $2, First Class Mail.

You can also lie and say you’re shipping books and get it shipped for less, claim Media Mail (this takes ungodly forever, thouigh).

I’ve heard of people using Pringles cans to ship whistles in. Never tried it though. Don’t see any logical reason why it wouldn’t work if you taped it good and made the labels.

In a tube?

Sonja

Thanks guys, cancel the $8 bucks for shipping, and I understand now that I can get a shipping box for free from USPS, and stuff it well with newspaper and the whistle (of course).

The thing is, I have an all-consuming case of whoa for an instrument, but cannot in good conscience get that said instrument without letting go of even some recent acquisitions. I’m still looking for that perfect sound which pleases my own ears and have settled on the Sindt for a soprano fling now and again, (in spite of the C#), and an Overton easy-reach tenor D for a permanent long-standing relationship.

I will continue to practice on my Susato Low D until the Overton comes in (someday) and then will probably sell that to a good home as well.

Thanks for the comments and advice.

By the way, Cran…I also have the book version of Whoa, so my postmistress would probably be none the wiser. :moreevil:

except that I would want to send it by fast horse since anyone who buys a whistle obviously wants it to get there yesterday. At least I do.

In a tube?

You can mail other things in tubes and whistles in other containers that would also hold books. Media Mail covers newspapers, magazines, and some recordings, so you could theoretically use tubes with Media Mail. It’s my experience that the post people NEVER ask anyway.

I used to know a woman who was going to mail some canaries or finches and the postal lady wouldn’t let her, even though it’s perfectly legal, the postal lady just didn’t know it was. So, she went out to the car with the box, came back a minute later and told her it was chickens, and she let her mail it. This was before 9-11 and the Anthrax scare, so the laws may have changed some in that regard (shipping birds).

I’l bet they were the sweetest sounding chickens ever. So I’ll be mailing Re****ers, and no one will be the wiser.

The Sweetone and the Village Smithy have been sold. Keep those bids coming.
