Solo Liam O,Flynn performance

Went to see and hear Liam O,Flynn at the Siamsa Tire theatre in tralee Co Kerry a couple of Saturdays ago and it was fantastic . It was great to hear him do a solo performance as he so rarely gets to do solo gigs these days as he said himself . He played a full version of the foxchase (approx 15 minutes) which went down a storm ,I had never heard the full version live before. He also played some Brendan voyage stuff as well as the usual dance music .Told a story of most of the tunes he played explaining the origin of the tune and such ,in fact he did a little to much talking for my liking ,but I suppose its good to hear the background to tunes .
One thing I was kind of surprised with was the amount of mistakes (not getting second octave and the odd squeal) he made ,but the thing was how he played through them and never let them interrupt the flow of the music . A very enjoyable night .

Very Cool. I wouldlove to be at a Liam O’Flynn solo performance. Paddy Moloney too.

I always feel a bit better about my own reed issues when I hear amazing pipers like Paddy Keenan or Liam O’Flynn & they have their squeaks and squawks just like the rest of us.

Then I can tell myself that it’s not ALWAYS me, it is actually the reed sometimes. :stuck_out_tongue:
