The only reason I’m putting this set of whistles up for sale is that a close friend of mine here in San Diego, this morning, sold me his essentially new and unplayed blackwood O’Riordan high D.
The set is one fipple with two body tubes and is essentially brand new. I bought it from Pat D’Arcy a couple of months ago, have kept it well oiled.
I have to say, David’s whistles are amazing instruments. This one is nearly identical to the new D O’Riordan, just a bit larger bore and has slightly less back pressure. Great clear tone, excellent intonation, efficient, responsive, nice big holes that allow me to produce clear crisp ornaments and easy half-holing. With the large bore, this whistle will take everything I can throw at it and more, and seems impossible to clog.
I’d keep it, but I think I’ll be playing the O’Riordan a lot and these are too nice to keep in the closet.
