SOLD: Calmont Low D Whistle

actually, Traded.
Phil

This tuneable whistle has a beak-less design, where the fipple is played to the back, near the players chin. (I really like the way this feels, sort of like sipping out of a small cup.) And both the fipple block and the outer sleeve (forming the windway) can be adjusted. Different positions will effect loudness, how breathy the sound is, and intonation between the high and low registers. When set so that the fipple opening is larger, the whistle has a nice sounding lower register, but the range is limited to about an octave a fifth. When set to a smaller hole, the lower register is softer and breathier, but the upper range plays much easier. The whistle has a very narrow windway, so has back pressure, yet seems to also want fairly healthy blowing.

One of the nicest things about this whistle is that the hole placement allows someone with medium sized hands to play using Fingertips, even on the Right hand! The light-weight plastic construction also adds to the playing comfort.

My impression is that this brand has not enjoyed high marks from the general Chiff & Whistle community. But it is also inexpensive. I payed about $62 when I bought this on Ebay (GB £20 plus £15 for shipping), around two years ago. I’ll sell for less or would be interested in a trade for a high whistle.

So add this unusual whistle to YOUR COLLECTION and help ME fund my other whistle purchases!
