Geoffrey, the best of luck to you!!! I wanted to join the circus as a kid, I think a lot of boys did, and now youāre just that much closer.
Cirque du Soleil is perhaps the single greatest live performance troupe I have had the pleasure to see. They are also pretty demanding, so to get an audition invite says something positive about your abilities. Very cool dude, very, very cool!!!
Cirque invites the best from around the world. You donāt have to, but it wouldnāt hurt to brush up on your French. I was born into the circus, but fortunately escaped, and was able to run away and join the real world.
Blinking flip! Not just join A circus - join THE circus!
Yeah, I do three-ball juggle, four on a good day. Unicycle, Stilt-walking.
At the age of fifty (-ahem!) Iām out of practice. I am possible the worst Stilt-walker in the Northern Hemisphere. I can tell you which lampposts are safe to hang on to and which not. Once you get above six-feet high, you learn just exactly how delicate and wobbly some lampposts are.
My recordās 9 balls, though Iām way out of practice. Given enough time to warm up, I bet I could still get 7 going pretty well.
But gymnastics is what theyāve invited me to audition for; they specified that these are acrobatic auditions. Iām pretty optimistic; they think they might want me based on what I did in my audition video, and Iāve gotten 10x better since then.
No passing for me-- Iāve never had partners! Love to give it a try sometime if I met some locals who were willing to indulge a newbie. My club juggling is not strong, so Iād have to start out with ball passing.
Seems that every one of the Quebecois kids who pick apples in the Okanagan was an expert club-passer. There were also several who were pretty good on slack-wire, which is, I hear, blinkinā difficult.
