Silkstone PVC and clogging

Info for those with clogging whistle problems: I just got back from busking for about 6.5 hours straight.
My PVC Silkstone D only clogged to the point of unplayability after I’d played it for 5 hours without clearing the windway. (I was in a coffee shop, and felt uncomfortable slinging around whistle juice). I was shocked at how much gunk I tapped out of the whistle onto a napkin..i’d have thought it’d have given up and quit playing long before then!

Greg

Well tell us, did you earn a decent day’s pay while busking?
I’ve heard tales of people doing quite well unintentionally… makes me wonder how well someone can do who is actually trying.
You play quite well, so I’d imagine you did just fine.
If anybody payed me, I’m sure it would be just to get me to stop playing!

Depends on what you mean by a “decent day’s pay” I didn’t earn nearly what I usually earn as a programmer..don’t ever expect to, either.

I spent about 3.5 hours busking outside, and made about $6.00…that was no good, so I found a coffee shop that’d put up with me busking indoors, and proceeded to make another $45 in 3 hours (and musta not sounded too bad..someone dropped a ten-spot in the kitty). The coffe shop provided free drinks (coffee or soda), beignets, and other assorted foods. I wasn’t at all disappointed  The coffee shop extended an open invitation to play there at any time, so I’m sure that I’ll stop by quite a bit with that kind of reception!

WW,
Be sure to clean out your woodwinds well if you’ve been eating sweets or sweetened drinks just prior to playing. You might get a suprise visit from ants (or other creatures) the next time you play.
I remember a girl in orchestra played clarinet while chewing cinnamon gum. When she came back the next day, there was an ant trail up the shelves running to her clarinet case.
