I have pakistani chanters, in fact the D chanter I use most is pakistani (with a CJ Dixon headpiece). Uillium took under 10 mins to rebuild the plastic reed that came with it and now it plays in tune with itself in D with no rushes tape etc.
If you look in clips and snips for JES’s Give Me Your Hand clip, it is a similar chanter to the one playing that clip.
The more experienced forum members seem to have a downer on Pakistani gear, I can only go with my experience and that is that the chanters are nice but let down by the reeds supplied with them.
I’ve got my lucky Ganesh full-set but without chanter. I have and Angus chanter. The regs are junk (though I keep trying to tune them) but the drones aren’t bad. And for a new player it is a good way to get drones on the cheap.
Anyway, any day now I get my new halfset and then I’ll be happy.
I’ve resigned myself to the fact that if I want regs (and a new non-leaky bag, and a new stock - hollow - ,and …) that I’m just going to have to make them myself.
Soon as I hand this Masters Thesis in end of Otober, I’m off to spend time with two of my pipemaker friends whose brains I intend to tax to the max over the next few years
