Sessions in Montreal

Can someone please give me a list of the sessions in Montreal and an idea of whether they are beginer, intermediate or advanced. I will be there Monday - Wednesday night in a couple of weeks.

Thanks

Hi Gerry,

You can go out musicking every night during your visit!

Monday night: Café L’Utopik, Ste-Catherine St E, opposite Berri métro, above La Maison de la Presse. My favourite session at present - unpredictable mix of musos and traditions - mainly Irish at the moment but you’ll hear some Québécois stuff and quite possibly Scottish as well. Standard is generally quite high. Smoke-free! Starts 9pm.

Tuesday: Québécois session at Vice-Versa bar on St-Laurent. This is really well worth a visit. Great big good-humoured session, some great musicians holding court. Can be very crowded and NOT smoke-free.

Wednesday night. O Regan’s bar on Bishop Street. Supposed to be a slow/beginner session. Friendly crowd, good fun but the quality of the music is spotty. Very smoky too. Starts 8pm.

Steve

Thanks Steve - appreciate the information. Unfortunately my trip has been cancelled - at least postponed. I will keep the information for future though as I’m sure I will get down there sooner or later…
