I could use a little help from any kind New Yorkers on the Forum.
I am travelling from the UK to NYC/ Broadway with the family to take in a show as a surprise 50th gift for my wife.
Unfortunately, due to a mix-up over arranging tickets, I have ended up with a duplicate set. Buying tickets for Broadway shows over the 'net is a finite process and I cannot cancel.
Does anyone know of a simple way to offer these tickets for re-sale other than the ubiquitous Ebay?
The biggest snag is that these tickets are held at the box office for collection by me so I cannot get hold of them until the night before the performance so it would take a bit of logistics to get them to another theatre-goer.
For the record I have 4 Mezzanine tickets to Lion King on Friday 16th Feb at 8.00pm
Try doing a google search on “ticket brokers New York” and see if you can work anything out with them. Other options are to sell it yourself outside the theater, or to see if the theater can add the tix to the ‘house seats’ and perhaps reimburse you the ticket cost.
Enjoy the show, it’s fantanstic. If you can, make the donation and get the backstage tour.
Stub Hub is the busiest specialized ticket site. They take like a 20% cut, however, the buyer will have absolute confidence that it is not some kind of scam, and you don’t have to worry about bad checks or other payment problems.
Feb 16th is Valentine’s week Friday, so there is probably going to be big demand for theater tickets. Given that, you might even try to list them for over face value.
I would not try to sell them in front of the theater–I believe it is illegal. It is much too risky for an out of town person traveling with family. Virtually no one goes to the theater looking to buy a ticket in front of the theater.
What about in that line at Times Square to the booth that sells tickets the day of the show? There’s always a huge line. I bet if you made a little paper sign and were cool about it, you could sell 'em…
