Does anyone know of a C&F type site in Portuguese? I’m looking for some basic instructions for a 10 year old. I would print and mail the information. I ran a search and did find something on ornamentation, but it was too advanced. The Portuguese for “how to play the tin whistle” is “como tocar flauta Irlandesa”. Maybe someone with a little time could run a search.
Just a suggestion - there are at least three good online translators, for a good number of languages. Have you tried any?
Cheers,

I don’t have the solution to your problem but maybe a pointer to the solution. I know there are several Spanish Celtic music sites on the Web. I seem to remember one dedicated to the whistle. If you can find one of those sites they may be able to hook you up with a Portugese speaker. Actually Galician, spoken in the Celtic area of Spain is very close to the Portugese language.
Good Luck,
Mike
PS I took a look around and came up with this

There is a wealth of info and some sheet music on the Web in both Spanish and gallego (Galician language). The recommended //personales.alcavia.net/~jmoreno/tw/ has an excellent “Tutor de Tin Whistle”, w/a selection of tunes and instructions on ornamentation; also http://usuarios.lycos.es/kakhen/2/ has a good section on exercises, modes, scales & fingering (all in Spanish, but accessible to a Portuguese speaker). For transcriptions of traditional and original Galician & Asturian “aires” and other tunes, check out folkgaliza.com;
lugonet.com/sonsgaliza; http://www.agrileira.com; http://www.GALEGO21.org/ravachol/media; and the website of the great Galician folk group Luar Na Lubre http://www.luarnalubre.com. Boa sorte!
