So this is one of your punters … er … patients then? It isn’t an irate piper?
Hmmm. I don’t want to make any more light of it but I’ve sometimes wondered what a therapist had to say to a patient to get that kind of response. I mean, the job always seemed potentially more dangerous than reports of trouble suggested it actually was.
A bit like teaching. There aren’t many reports of teachers being attacked by deranged students. I teach maybe 500 a year and several each year suffer from some serious psychosis. I have some difficult situations to handle but no personal threats so far. One student even blamed me for not dealing as effectively as she’d have liked with another student who had a schizophrenic breakdown during an exam. (I actually succeeded in getting her to leave, even though it wasn’t my job to do that.)
A philosopher called Schlick was shot by a student of his in Nazi Germany. Nobody knows for sure whether it was personal or idealogical. One of my colleagues once received an exam script with the remark ‘Remember Schlick’ apparently written in blood on it. That was a bit unnerving. One female colleague has been stalked relentlessly by a male student for several years.
I am very disappointed at the misleading subject line. I was looking forward to saving an entire set of Dale’s fingers. 
I thought they’d look good on our mantlepiece.
Don’t feel too bad Dale, my own family threatens to break my fingers every time I break out the whistles…
