[…] But the world is slipping away; the polished sky
Gives nothing to grip on; clicked from the knuckle
The marble rolls along the gutter of time-
Earth, sky and galaxy
Shifting their place in space […]
All things are new
Over the sun, but we,
Our eyes on our shoes, go staring
At the asphalt, the gravel, the grass at the roadside, the doorstep,
the doodles of snails, the crochet of mortar and lime,
Seeking the seeming familiar, though every stride
Takes us a thousand miles from where we were before.
-Norman Nicholson
The Motion of the Earth
“Things are not as they seem
For we live in a dream;
Things are all a different way:
Staying still, the sun burns
While the silent earth turns
And changes the night into day…”
…oooooooooooh! I feel dizzy!
Been there. Done that. Have the t-shirt.

I’m looking at the photo of the rotating Earth and listening to a Mozart piano concerto. I can’t find the right adjective to describe my thoughts. “Miraculous” may come close, though.
Does looking at the calendar have anything to do with this state of mind?
By my count it’s 12 days…May 26, right, Doug???
I hope things are going well in preparation for the Big Day!

The only home we’ll ever know in our lifetimes. Of all the planets in our solar system I think Earth is the most under-appreciated; the most taken for granted.
