“Celtic Moods” (CRIMCD72 on the Crimson Label 1997)

A non-piping friend brought this cd to my attention. Ronan’s name isn’t on the cover but the inside notes credit him as the piper on all 19 tracks.

I guess that this album is aimed at the easy-listening/chill-out/ “Celtic tourism” markets and I wouldn’t be surprised if some pipers think that it is too close to being uillean “Muzak” for comfort. I have to admit to liking it:- but then, Ronan can do no wrong as far as I am concerned. Has anyone heared it? What do you think?

I understand what you mean when you say that this cd is aimed at an easy-listening audience but I think some of the tracks would appeal to the piping connoisseur - Give me your hand and The Blackbird spring to mind from memory. There’s one set of dance tunes on the album which are beautifully played - very expressive with understated use of ornamentation.
