ORIGINAL MESSAGE

Hi!

I would like to announce that I am putting a half-set on the block. This block! Not eBay, unless there’s no interest.

I’ve got a very nice 1/2 set by Rogge in snakewood with brass metalwork and bone mounts. The set is his narrow-bore D design. It’s about 2-3 years old; the chanter and bag being 3 years, drones being 2. The chanter is fully keyed. No stop key.

I had Seth Gallagher make a reed for the chanter a couple of years ago, and his reed works WONDERS! It plays very easily across both octaves.

Why am I even CONSIDERING selling? Well, I’m about to take possession of a full set in B, and I find I play the pipes alone most of the time. I only play flute and Scottish pipes in public. Heh.

The set is in excellent condition and has been well-cared-for. There is a very small crack in one bone mount, which is how I received it from Rogge. I could have sent it back for a replacement, but I didn’t want to be without pipes.

Checking Rogge’s site, a new set like this would run you in the neighborhood of €3,000 (US$3,500). I’ll accept any reasonable offer and will ship it anywhere; we can figure out the best way to ship.

I’ll try to make a picture of it soon, if folks are interested.

Please PM or email me (sturob{AT}swbell.net).

Thanks, sorry for the quasi-commercial post! Eh, it’s not quasi, it’s downright commercial!

Does anyone have a point-of-view on Rogge Narrow Bore Snakewood pipes? Thanks.

I might have the only one mentioned here. Maybe you’ll get opinions on narrow-bore Rogges . . . but no one else has ever talked about snakewood narrow-bores.

At what point did this set actually turn rogue? :really:

Rogue?

Bumping this up because I’m still getting some email about it. It has sold, as I’ve edited the above message.

Anyone who’s thinking about eBay . . . eBay is great, but I think if you can sell direct on the forum, it’s even better. And it was fast!
