RIP Greg Lake

First Keith Emerson, now Greg Lake. Died Wednesday at the tender age of 69.

Lake was a part of two of my absolute favorite albums. The first was Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson. As I write I’m listening to “Epitaph,” one of the loveliest songs I can think of right now, and achingly appropriate. The other is, of course, Brain Salad Surgery by ELP. He had a spectacular voice that I always found very appealing. And he was a great bassist and quite a competent guitarist. This one really saddens me.

A couple of tunes:

This guy had a great voice.

Chas, I agree. As an “old dude” of 65, I was lucky enough to see ELP in the early 70’s, two weeks in a row. ( first pittsburgh, then Washington). What an amazing show. I was talking to my brother a few days back, and ask “Whats happening to all our hero’s”? How they did help to shape our lives. RIP Greg.
