I have just received a new narrow bore high D from Ronaldo Reyburn. It is the first of the line with a different technique of production. This model according to Ronaldo has a rounder ,more solid and much improved tone closer to the Session model.
I have had it a couple of days and it just gets better and better. I have a Session set that is incredible but for a quieter more introverted mood this whistle is just beautiful with superb tone and projection. Ronaldo continues to make great whistles that are totally addictive.
Narrow bore whistles seem to be a favorite of mine so I asked Reynoldo to comment about his new version of the narrow bore Reyburn. Here is what he said…
“Thanks for your interest in my whistles. The new narrow bore is not
really louder but the tone has a bit rounder tone than the earlier
version. The older design has a character like a Generation and the
new design has a similar character but a bit rounder (hollower) which
is a result of a very slight change in the way I form the fipple.”
