This has been discussed about posting that a member has a flute for sale and a heads up on here etc…so I wonder if a reversal is allowed? If so maybe this’ll get some attention as the WTS board ads are very quick away. I have posted again a list of flutes I am trying to replace so maybe someone who doesn’t frequent the other board may have one or more? In particular I’m looking for two piccolos (a) A Rudall Carte x5 or 6 keyed F piccolo & (b) A Hawkes Crown AZ Eb piccolo both either made from wood or ebonite. Look forward to any answers apart from the one feared that I shouldn’t be using this board as I’m not selling anything! LoL
This ad appeared 3 May 2010 & is in the old and sold but now correcting what I’m after by deleting the ones bought to date. If anyone has the ones below and wishes to trade please write
Trying to restart my flute collections…so need the following in wood or ebonite. X5 or x6 keyed
Boosey & Co… F flute & F Piccolo. (Also Bb bass with curved head)
Henry Potters… F & Eb Piccolos. (Also Bb Bass flute curved head)
Rudall Carte… Eb bass flute & F piccolo. (Also Bb Bass flute curved head)
Hawkes Crown AZ… Eb bass flute, Eb piccolo (Also Bb bass flute curved head)
Even broken bits, as I might be able to find a use for some parts here Eg: I have a (head or two) for a Bb and so on Direct contact if better see below? Cheers Neil. oakleaves@gmx.net
Oh Guru! Substitute a “B” for the “S” and you’d have known straight off.
Steampacket, that RC&Co piccolo currently on eBay is a D picc and is probably a tad flat of CP - I have one here the same length, 12 1/4" which isn’t really happy at but can be pushed up to 440 with the slide closed and playing with a more open embouchure approach. The ones which play well at CP with a bit of slide open are a bit shorter.
But what would “Wanted to Sell” mean? Unless you’re a charity or a pawn shop …
Neil, I don’t quite understand the bit about “reveral of … warnings” etc. You (or any members) are welcome to post here or in the Exchange that you’re looking to buy the instruments you’ve listed.
My interpretation of the OP’s message is that messages in the UIE expire in 2 weeks, and that he wishes to have his Wanted to Buy message to persist for longer, so that there’s more opportunity for someone to find his request. I think that’s why he’s posted here in the Flute forum.

poorly spelled UIE
Sorry for the late response sometimes I’m advised there is a reply to a thread & sometimes not? In answer to your Q’s… Ooop’s questions. As Jem pointed out put a b where the s is and that would read want to buy. As the UIE title states, I’ver never read of someone want to exchange yet or missed if so as is normally they want to sell (WTS or WTB).As K.Krell wrote my Q was posted if there would be an objection on the main board asking for specific flutes to buy, seemingly not. Also to get at those who have everything and don’t frequent the pawn shop.
I thought I’d made an error on reversal but as Denny points out… poorly spelled by yourself…I take it the USA version LoL. Thanks for clarification on where I can put my ad )
or you can copy the resulting search parameters from the URL line of your browser, which might look like this (I used the Search Tools setting on Google to just look at results from the last week).
You can use similar bookmarks for a netwide search (not limited to C&F forums), or use an Advanced Search for multiple parameters (brand names, specific models - ie: “Hawkes Crown”).
Thanks for the help:-)) Still no warning about your reply? Anyway I’m still trying to get to grips with my simple system flutes having a D# bottom key but you lot insist they’re called Eb. LoL
If you’ve Subscribed (and your email address in your profile is correct) and are not receiving notices from C&F, then possibly your mail server is blocking C&F thinking the messages are Spam.
You shouldn’t need to subscribe to threads you post in, let alone initiate. You only need to subscribe if you want notifications of activity in/to follow a thread you haven’t been active in yourself. You should automatically get e-mails notifying you of new activity in ones you’ve started or contributed to. But check in your account/the user control panel (near top R of every C&F page) what notification settings you have and adjust if needed, as well as making sure they’re going to your current active e-address, as Kevin wrote.
Jem, you will normally only receive notifications if you Subscribe to a thread, regardless of whether you post or not. The exception is if you have set your User Control Panel/Edit Posting Defaults “Notify me upon replies by default:” to Yes.
Well, I guess that must be how I originally set up my account settings, then, Kevin - in that I’ve always received notification e-mails as I described. And that (in more/better detail) was what I was advising Neil to check. I’ve never actively subscribed to threads on an individual basis at all SFAIR.
