Regulator Tuning.....in an imperfect world

..It’s not a perfect world, and regulators, I’ve been told, are a good example of that.
I struggle to get all the notes in any one regulator perfectly in tune. It happens sometimes, but more often than not, there’s one that’s out.

A mate in Belfast told me his regs had only a couple of times been absolutely perfectly in tune…and he plays them a lot more than I do.
Hegarty’s book on reedmaking says somewhere that its OK for regs to be a cent or two out…

So what’s the opinion of the brotherhood of pipers out there in cyberspace??

“…find two notes in tune and use them.” --the greatest reedmaker ever to grace this planet

I have found that some regs tune in ok with little or no adjustment . On the other hand , some other pipemakers , who shall remain nameless, have sent out regs that will not go in chune no matter what ya do .
tok . they say ya alot here in maine , I am 6 mounths out here in maine and , well you learn the venacular .
 .

Boyd I find that I am footering around with some more than others. One day the rush is in another it is out but thats the price o pipering. As you know I prefer 2 regs and have abandoned the Bass in favour of the middle and small regs on my sets.My bug if there is one is the g and f# on the middle reg of the D set all the others are spot on.The other sets are no problem at all maybe its something to do with them being flat sets!!
