regs key work(pin mount,block mount)

Hello!!

I’m now going to make a final decision for my full set order, BC Childress or Andreas Rogge.
In the Rogge catalouge he shows two types of regulator key work.Pin-mounted and block-mouted.How does it differs?Playability, durability etc.

Thank you for reading

Innerhand,
do you still have a O’Grady half set?

Hello Tony

Yes,I own O’Grady’s half set.I’m quite sutisfied with the set.It was the first half set I owned.Easy to play, well in tune. This was the first set I owned,so I have never had difficult problems often disscused in this message bord.
I can’t hear, touch even see a full set of pipes here in Japan(ofcourse I think 10or20sets exists),so the only informatoin that I can refer to is reputations spoken in this kind of message bord or mailing lists.
I want to know how O’Garady’s regs works, but can’t have information about his works.
It’s some kind of gamble to order such instuments over $3000 and a waiting period more than 2 years.
Thanks!!

I play a Rogge set with pin-mounted regs. I cannot say much about a comparison. I’d say block-mounted regs are bolder, heavier and over time the keys might get stuck (which can usually be remedied easily). The pin-mounts haven’t given me any trouble yet, from time to time you have to readjust the screws that hold the keys in their place. I feel fine with mine.
