regulator system

Hallo ye all!
Andreas Rogge, a pipemaker from Germany makes two different kinds of regulator systems: the traditional block-mounted-system and his own pin-mounted-system.
Can anybody tell me what the advantages and drawbacks of each sytem are.

Stefan

The pin-mounted regs are lighter and full sets with pin-mounted regs might be more comfortable to sit and play for several hours at a time. I can not make any informed judgements about their durability versus the durability of traditional block-mounted or Taylor-style keys.

I like Rogge’s work, he has built some striking and beautiful instruments, but I think the block mounted keys look nicer.

Its simply a question of taste, asthetics if you like.I have played the pipes for many hours at a time and can’t say that the regs bother me at all(block mounted)The only difference I can see would be the odd swelling/shrinkage of wood which would loosen/stiffen the keys but this has happened so rarely to me that I wouldna consider it a problem.
