Reeding a Tom White Chanter

Does anyone have experience reeding a Tom White chanter? A friend of mine has one with the reed glued shut (An angry spouse, perhaps?). I’m not sure if the reed ever worked in the set at all. In any case, I’ve started with the staple that was furnished as a place to begin. The staple diameter is considerable smaller and the eye considerably larger and more oval than the reeds I am used to ( for my Koehler and Quinn set).

Thanks.

Peter Heelan has a Tom White set. If I recall correctly( it was 1979),for it, I supplied a 0.020" copper staple about 2" long, and the blank was 0.500" or 0.510" wide. A very narrow staple indeed for a CP chanter.

Thanks for the lead, Ted. He says his White chanter was reworked by Tim Britton, so it’s not a good example of a Tom White chanter any more. And yes, as you mentioned but I forgot to, it’s a concert pitch chanter.

If you can find a contact number for Seamus( Jimmy) MacMahon from wexford town , he always made reeds for White chanters and still does. He sometimes has workshops at the Tommy Kearney Tinol.
