Peter’s might not be the person to ask about Talbert, William. Talbert had a ‘colourful’ time here a while back.
I can honestly say I haven’t heard him.
Kwela music from South Africa in the 1950s is largely whistle music. Various Eastern European groups, especially gypsy bands, use whistle. There isn’t a great deal of either readily available but, if you are interested, we could give some details.
I have heard some of Talberts stuff. I suggested him because I think it will fit in with what you’re into (aside from the fact he is also liked to introduce himself as a ‘recording artist’).
Thanks for the hints, any more insight would be great.
Jerry,
Thanks for the links! This will really help.
Piedwhistler,
I’ve got a tone of Irish/Celtic music that, to me sounds very bluegrass/country at times. I’m wanting to get a feel for what other sounds are coming out of the whistle. But your suggestion is an exellent rep for that sound. Thanks!
William you are so rude didnt you forget something, its so unlike you, here let me… edited for content, personal attacks aren’t a happy place kind of thing, therefore they go to the unhappy place kind of… uh… place.…
I’d like to know you in person, you are one of those Brit’s (If I’m not mistaken) with a big heart and a pearcing sence of humor…LOL! ( I may be Canadian but almost all of my liniage stems from the Brittish Isle)
my “personal attack” is honest and up front and i accept its wrong.
its the other sly snidey nasty sneering negative bullshit you need to be jumping on.
[to be fair you did jump in relatively quick].
mind you if i had said go way it would of been ok because thats not personal you just want them to go away with it.and where i come from fxxxx off means go away, and nobody takes offence.I mean say i walk in to my local boozer and in there is a mate i havent seen for ages, his or my greeting would probably be ..fxxx me you fxxng bxxxxd how the fxxxx are ya you dont get any better looking do ya.and it would be affection
these words mean different things to different people,it was just a bit of craic and i dont believe mr laban has that thin of a skin it would bother him,i mean i bet its not the first time he has had it said to him and lets be honest he can be pretty sharp himself albeit in a different way.its just a bit of craic thats all.but point taken as i can see how the f word [although i said fack not fxxx]might be offensive to some,it wont happen again.
ps can i tell him to go away a least, believe me he loves it,its just foreplay
FWIW, the recommendation for TstC was straightforward without messing.
I have no time for Talbert’s ego and some of his behaviour, had my differences but genuinely thought his music would suit WTA’s bill. I realised how it could be read but posted it anyway, maybe as a gesture showing that while I don’t care for WTA’s brand of Christianity, there would be no reason to not talk about music.
So who’s the sneering bollicks that should go away ?
Ok, I thought, by your words the discussion of Christianity was against protocols for this site Peter and yet to refer to “not caring for my brand of Christianity”. What is going on here?
