Re-corking in the Scotland

Am wondering if anyone can suggest a flute repairer capable of replacing the broken cork on my flute?
Cheers

George Ormiston could surely fix it: http://www.ormistonflutes.co.uk/

But if it is merely to replace cork on a tennon, then a local competent music shop should be able to fix you up.

I always recommend looking for a woodwind repairer who does both flutes and clarinets. A clarinet repairer will be familiar with replacing tenon corks and the kind of pads we use. If they also repair flutes, they can probably blow one well enough that they can test their work on yours!

If you have a little patience…you can wrap the broken cork with thread. After the wrapping, paint the thead with melted beeswax. If peices are missing from the cork strip, you can find thin cork at most hobbie and craft shops.

Another method is to wrap the joint with thin, round leather lace and wax this in the same way.

Every player should learn to repair their own instrument. The “Old Masters” did.

Thanks fellas’.
I wondered about using thread on there as the cork is only split. Wary of putting extra pressure on the very finely turned tenon tho’, perhaps introduced with moisture and expansion and stuff.
It’s a flute made by yourself Terry. I love it.
Have found a repairer now.
Cheers
James.
