I’m getting a mobile home ready to deliver. The carpet layer was scheduled to arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 this morning. I went out to the job site at a few minutes after nine and found him already there.
“You’re early,” I said.
He began his reply with, “My mother in law is a very demanding woman … .”
Listening to news commentary about the defeat of proposed legislation to reduce federal funding for public broadcasting, I heard this:
“Several times over the past few decades, legislators have tried to cut the public broadcasting budget, only to find themselves pinned and gasping under the talons of Big Bird.”
Why are so-called conservative legislators bent on getting the government out of public broadcasting? Wasn’t CPB founded so they could get the very liberal, or, rather, left wing, NET under their thumb, in the first place?
