i have looked and can not find what i need. i am looking for the garden hose quick connect list of supplies and a how to do it.
thanks.
Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Ace Hardware…
i kinda need to know what to get. thanks for the store tips.
You’re probably going to have to be more specific about what kind of setup you have or would like. Most makers have a unique system that they use for the bag/bellows connect. Are you trying to create something new for your set or simply replacing a piece? Photos would really help.
i was trying to make something for mine. but after looking at some photos and talking with a friend, i see how i may not be able to. but to answer the question, it is something new for my set up. i have a stock in the bag a blow stick that goes into the stock and a tube that connects to the belows and blowstick.
My set just uses a hose quick connect. Also you can your an airline quick connect.. There is a male end that goes on the hose/tube going to the bag, and the female end is on the hose/tube that is attacked to the bellows. I use ordinary car heater hose.. Pretty simple to set up.. And works really really well.

Quick Disconnect Uilleann Brass Bag-Bellows Connector Recipe
Here’s my recipe for a brass bellows-bag connector that quick disconnects. It is assembled entirely from common garden hose fittings. All parts are commonly available at a well stocked hardware store like True Value.
When assembled, it all looks ok, and works quite well. Beware that this rig can scratch nearby wood if you are not careful. Good for a practice set, use with caution on 1/2 set or greater, where it is likely to scratch mainstock, drones, etc if you are not careful.
- Waxed Cord
- Little Mac Valve
- Teflon Plumbers Tape
- 5/8 Inch Brass Hose Barb, Male
- Brass Quick Connect, Female Half (comes as a unit)
- Brass Quick Connect, Male Half (comes as a unit)
- 5/8 Inch Brass Hose Barb, Female
- 5/8 Inch Clear Braided Vinyl Tubing
- 1" Hose Clamp
- Bellows
The Little Mac valve slides right into the 5/8" male brass barb. Wrapping the male end of the Little Mac with Teflon tape ensures a snug fit. I did not use glue, as I want to be able to change the valve easily, if it ever wears out.
Tie the male brass barb on to the bag. The barb ties nicely into a slightly less than 5/8" pie sliced hole in the leather bag. When well tied-in with waxed cord, it is airtight.
Tightly thread the female brass quick-connect to the male brass barb. You might want to seal threads with Teflon tape, but I did not find this necessary.
Thread the 5/8" brass quick-connect female half to the male barb that is connected to the bag.
Thread the 5/8" brass quick-connect male half to the female hose barb.
Attach a length of 5/8 inch clear braided vinyl tubing to the barb. The length of this hose varies by your girth, so you will have to experiment. 10-12 inches might be a good place to start. The braided tubing is attractive looking in itself.
Attach the other end of the 5/8" clear braided vinyl tubing to the bellows barb. I connected it permanently with a standard 1" hose clamp, available at any automotive supply house.
Assemble the two halves of the quick connect. Bag and bellows should now be connected and airtight.
Check for leaks and tighten as needed. Check that the Little Mac valve is operating correctly; that there is no backflow of air from bag to bellows.
If you have access to a metal lathe, brass fittings can be turned to be more attactive.
